  34. In our area, Cable Atlantic has been wiring our city and other parts of 
  35. the province (mainly the city of St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland 
  36. though) with fibre optic cable for cable Internet access which in some 
  37. parts of the city, they are beta testing the system to be finally opened for
  38. the public by March or April I think if it all goes well.  You will be able to
  39. rent or buy a "Cable modem" from them and pay a flat fee per month for your
  40. Internet access.  Exactly how much access and how much time this will buy is
  41. not determined yet.

  43. What IS known though is that it certainly is sparking a lot of 
  44. competition in local ISPs and our local Telephone company which will soon 
  45. be offering its own high speed internet access has been fighting the 
  46. cable company for use of the Pole Lines to put the Fibre Optic cables on 
  47. for fear of them providing the better service and first .. but they lost 
  48. out on that battle.
